On the night of May 7-8, J. V. Stalin, as Chairman of the Council of Peoples Commissars of the U.S.S.R., sent the following cables to the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Mr. Winston Churchill, and the President of the United States, Mr. Franklin D. Roosevelt:

I congratulate you and the valiant British and American troops on the brilliant victory which has resulted in the liberation of Bizerta and Tunis from Hitlers tyranny. I wish you further successes.
